On contemporary disability activism that challenge sexual norms in Sweden
The Centre for Gender Research organises open queer seminars for all interested in and/or actively working with the concept of 'queer', through practice, theory or activism.
Welcome to the Queer seminar: Cripping a neoliberal civil society
About the seminar
This seminar starts from a case study of contemporary disability activism that challenge sexual norms in Sweden. The concept cripping, meaning to question and resist ableist assumptions and structures, gives a theoretical frame to understand this activism. An in-depth analysis of the space of action these activists create and maintain will contribute to a deeper understanding of civil society in a time of neoliberal hegemony and ableism.
