ABOUT THE SEMINAR
The central theme of this book is the velvet border in European gender studies, three decades after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Rather than dwelling on the East–West dichotomy, this book dislocates it and shifts the epistemic landscape, launching a critical analytical perspective of Europe as borderland.
The attendant theorizing knits together a range of approaches, allowing readers to discern multiple hierarchizations and intersections of location, gendering, sexualities, racialization, and temporalities.
This book combines a reassessment of theoretical categories with grounded empirical analysis; it speaks to the formation of a growing body of scholarship transiting between post-socialist, post-colonial, area, and transnational studies, deploying a post-Three-World epistemic cartography.
