During recent decades, understandings of embodiment and the body have been of a crucial concern in gender research. Accordingly, gender studies’ relationship to “the biological” has become an increasingly urgent question. In this publication, Tora Holmberg examines and illuminates the boundaries between the social and the biological, between nature and culture, between sex and gender, and the different theoretical debates in gender research. She does this through discussions with prominent Swedish gender researchers, who have taken an interest in corporeality and biology. Together they look into the problems posed by the different approaches and the possibilities for transgression.
